Bob’s my first first mate, so when the wind is a howlin’, he’ll be there to help tame it. Today, the winds were pushing 18-20 knots at times. We were flyin’ around the Sound hitting almost to 8 knots on a few occasions.
All was perfect until I took over the helm coming into the marina and somehow went down R dock instead of my Q dock. This R dock is for smaller boats so the fairway was quite narrow making turning around no easy matter. The winds were still blowing, I was shifting and maneuvering while Bob was scampering fore and aft with his push stick keeping us from hitting anything. We came out unscathed and I much more experienced on how to maneuver the boat in tight quarters. NOW I know where Q dock is.
